When you are shopping, remember a slice of cake is 450 calories – you have to skip for 45 minutes to burn it off!

Here are those recipes:

TURKEY PIE
Serves 4 – approx.. 300 cals

448g/16oz fresh/frozen broccoli spears                       4 fl oz skimmed milk
3 tbsp Hellman’s Extra Light Mayo                                450g/1 lb cooked mashed potatoes
1 can Campbell’s condensed chicken soup                 84g/3oz chopped cooked ham
196g/7oz cooked turkey, chopped                              Salt & Pepper

Cook broccoli spears, drain and chop finely. Place turkey and ham into a baking dish. Mix together soup, mayonnaise (optional), milk and seasonings and pour over the meat and veg, mixing well. Microwave on full power for 12 minutes or until heated through. Top with mashed potatoes and grill until golden brown. This is really tasty served with lots of “free” vegetables.

TURKEY/CHICKEN CURRY
Serves 4 – curry is 200 cals per portion; with rice is 400 cals per portion

Mist a large non-stick pan with low-cal cooking spray. Fry sliced onions, peppers and bean sprouts for 2 minutes. Add a jar of low fat curry sauce and approx.. 350g/12oz cooked chopped turkey or chicken. Simmer until thoroughly cooked and serve with approx. 168g/6oz cooked rice or noodles (56g/2oz dry weight per person). The cauliflower rice makes a great calorie-free alternative to rice.

MARIE’S TIP: Mayflower curry is a firm favourite with our members. For four portions you would need approx.. 224g/8oz dry weight sauce mix.
This recipe can be frozen and makes a convenient ready meal.

FESTIVE WEETABIX CAKE
Approx. 70 cals per 28g/1oz

2 Weetabix                                                                  84g/3oz dark brown sugar
224g/8oz mixed dried fruit                                      1 medium egg
224g/8oz SR flour                                                       300ml/½ pint skimmed milk
50g/2oz glace cherries                                               Juice and zest of 1 lemon and orange
1 tsp mixed spice                                                        ½ tsp ground ginger

Place all fruit, sugar and zest in a pan with juice and a splash of brandy or sherry. Warm through, stirring allt eh time. Add the spices, mix and leave to cool. In another bowl, soak Weetabix and milk as normal. Add the beaten egg and cooled fruit, mix then add the flour. Mix well and cook on 180˚C/350˚F/Gas 4 for about 40 – 45 minutes until cooked.
