What’s better than a warming mug of goodness as autumn sets in! I always think of it as a ‘hug in a mug’! Soup is so versatile and ideal if you want to lose weight and have a healthy lifestyle. It is one of those foods that satisfies us without lots of ‘empty calories’ – and is tasty too!
There are so many different soup recipes – definitely something for every taste. And it’s a great way of having your ‘5-a-day’ and stocking up on those delicious veggies.
Soup is such a popular part of the Slimtone Lifestyle Plan that we’ve updated our Slimtone Soup Book for a third time! As well as family favourites and stand-by stars, there are new recipes for you to try. In fact, there are more than 20 recipes, as well as plenty of tips, ideas and suggestions liven up your menus.
Here’s a taster of what’s included:
*** Slimtone Super Soup is one of our members’ favourite stand-bys. It’s quick and easy to prepare and cheap too, particularly when you use up whatever veg is left hanging around the kitchen. Smooth or chunky, sippable or spoonable, its versatility knows no end! and the bonus is it’s almost calorie free!!!!!!
Simply simmer your favourite “free” vegetables in a stock cube – enjoy it as it is or, for a tasty “twist”, try one of these ideas:
*** For minestrone simply add 56g/2oz cooked spaghetti or wholemeal pasta and a tin of chopped tomatoes or passata (the variety with basil is great for this recipe). This will make several servings and at only 200 calories for the total amount is an excellent starter to your meal.
*** Don’t forget the Slimtone favourite by simply adding 56g/2oz chopped corned beef and 140g/5oz cooked potatoes – hey presto, you’ll have a delicious serving of corned beef soup for only 220 calories. Serve with a slice of granary bread for a tasty meal in minutes.
*** Make a tasty curry sauce by blitzing your super soup with a handheld blender and adding curry paste to taste. Or alternatively add gravy granules for a tasty “free” gravy.
Favourites like the Butternut Squash & Red Pepper Soup and Spicy Parsnip Soup are included, alongside classics like French Onion Soup and Leek & Potato Soup. There are also some new additions such as the refreshing Minted Pea Soup, which can be eaten hot or cold, a tasty Carrot & Lentil Soup and a Hearty Vegetable & Bean Soup, filling enough to be a meal in itself!
The all new Slimtone Soup Book is available in all Slimtone classes from this week or can be ordered here either as an immediate download or posted to you as a hard copy book.
I can’t wait to hear which recipe is your favourite,
Marie x
