What a week! It was so lovely to re-start classes and to see everyone. It is such a long time since we had our Slimtone family altogether, who would have thought it! It really was a wonderful birthday present at the beginning of the week – even though the weather caused us problems on Thursday and Friday!!

I was also very impressed and want to congratulate all of those members who really were so disciplined during the lockdown. Apparently the average weight gain mentioned in the media was at least half stone. Although our members had put on a few pounds, it has proven that the Slimtone plan works even through these uncertain times.

We also had some great weight losses! David in the Bridgend class lost 8 pounds and Lucy in Bettws has lost 9 pounds. So many more members have maintained their weight or just put on a few pounds extra. Well done to you all!

Of course, it’s been a very difficult time, so if you gained a little more than the average and feel awkward coming back to class, please don’t. Everyone is in the same boat, and we have such an encouraging and supportive group of people, you’ll soon get back into the swing of things.

All our classes are Covid-safe – there are enhanced hygiene measures and we ask everyone to wear a face mask (unless you are exempt) and keep your shoes on to weigh. Find out exactly how the classes run by clicking here for more details.

And, as a special “welcome back” treat, you’ll get a copy of our new weekly plan. The Reset, Recharge and Re-energise plan has a full week’s menu and lots of new recipes and ideas. There’s also the usual class talk and plenty of time to chat to other members and share ideas.

Do you know, if you come back to class now, with a steady, achievable weight loss, you can lose a stone by the time the children break up for the summer holidays! Now that’s a great incentive, isn’t it!

Here’s a recipe to give you that fresh taste of summer – Minted Pea Soup. It’s something a little different, is quick and easy to prepare and ideal as a starter or at lunchtime to help fill you up.

Quick and Tasty Minted Pea Soup
Serves 1 – approx. 100 cals per portion

1 small onion, chopped                       1 garlic clove, crushed
56g/2oz potato, cubed                         500 ml vegetable stock
140g/5oz frozen peas                           sprigs of fresh mint

Put the onion, garlic, potato and stock into a large saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the peas and most of the mint, return to the boil and cook for 10 minutes. Blitz in a processor until smooth, season to taste and serve topped with a couple of fresh mint leaves.

I hope you enjoy this taste of summer. It’s great to be back in the swing of things and I look forward to welcoming more members back again this week.

See you soon,
Marie x
